Jim Keppie, the first Honorary Secretary of the Scottish Printing Archival Trust, died on 2 February 2026, aged 96. The Trustees would like to record their condolences to his family. Following a ling career in the printing industry, he was instrumental in setting up the Trust, and was also active in establishing the publication of the series of Reputation for excellence books on the history of tte Scottish printing industry.

30 October 1577 Thomas Bassendyne died in Edinburgh on 30 October 1577. Together with Alexander Arbuthnot, he printed the first translation of the Bible in Scotland, known as the Bassendyne Bible. The New Testament, printed by Bassendyne, was completed first, and the Bible as a whole is known as ‘the Bassendyne Bible’.
