Bookbinding showcase

You can join the National Library of Scotland online for a virtual showcase of the winning entries for the Elizabeth Soutar Bookbinding Competition 2020, which had the 1980s as its theme. You will be able toview the winning designs, and to hear from the bookbinders about their responses to the competition brief and their creative process. You can find out more and book a slot through the NLS eventbrite page.

Did you know?

William Ged died in Edinburgh on 19 October 1749. He had trained as a goldsmith, but pioneered a system of stereotyping, though he was unsuccessful in persuading printers to adopt it. It became a standard process early in the 19th century.
